Their influences ranged from Public Enemy (Blöndal says that P.E.'s Fear Of A Black Planet is what inspired him to make music) to Led Zeppelin, and that can be heard in their songs. Comparisons to Rage Against The Machine, Eminem, and The Beastie Boys are often heard when discussing Quarashi, but the group had their own unique style that distinguished them from other famous rap/rock groups. Quarashi was a rap group, but they combined elements of rock, techno, and funk into their songs, lending an air of unpredictability in their music. Each of their records (Switchstance, Quarashi, Xeneizes, Kristnihald undir Jökli, Jinx, Guerilla Disco) have sold well in their homeland. The group has a loyal following, especially in their native Iceland. For live shows, Quarashi was joined by a guitarist (Smári Tarfur), a bassist (Gaukur Úlfarsson), and a DJ (DJ Magic). The fourth member of the group was Sölvi Blöndal, who played drums and was the main songwriter/producer. Stoney (Steinar Orri Fjeldsted), who also served as a rapper and hype man. It is comprised of Höskuldur "Hössi" Ólafsson (replaced by Tiny (real name Egill Ólafur Thorarensen) on the final album), who was the lead vocalist and frontman of the group, Omar Swarez (Ómar Örn Hauksson), who served as a rapper and hype man, and Steini a.k.a.

So the sound brakes through from one tone, gives me no choice I can't be alone. Stick it, I'm tired I'm bored, I'm trying so hard and I can't be adored. I can't decide darkness or light or just a heavenly fright. So won't you make a man out of me, I've gotta be, connected computerized son of a bitch, makes me itch, sucker for life. If you can't take it like I said get a grip 'cause I'm here to fucking stay like the warts on your dick. I don't give a fuck what you think about this shit, ain't in it for the money never out to make a hit. Rise up from the sea like a godzilla straight up through your mind with my armour plated drilla. I bomb the mic like a fascist, Mussolini comin' through with no remorse, from the dark you won't see me. Do me in, don't make me sin, I'm doing so good I can't go through it again.
QUARASHI STICK EM UP LYRICS SKIN
It's just a modest proposal from a boy anti-social, scraping the skin of our culture, civilized vulture.

Sucker MC don't you love me, want to have me, want to que me, one two three. He can't, though.Until there was you we didn't know what to do but I don't give a fuck about the things that I blew.

"Omar is really into all that pop culture," says a laughing Olafsson, "and he really finds it funny to be boisterous and pretending to be some big guy that can kick everybody's ass. "I bomb the mic like a fascist/Rise up from the sea like a Godzilla/Straight up through your mind/With my armour-plated drilla," raps Swarez on Stick 'Em Up. One of the more entertaining aspects of the group is the contrast between the spiritual and intellectual rhymes of literature student Olafsson and the hilarious, big-talking bravado of Swarez. The sound shows a much gentler side not often seen in sports-metal bands.

On melodic tunes such as Mr Jinx and Malone Lives, colourful sample ideas, sunny horns, shuffling piano and multi-tracked vocals come together in a near-homage to soundtrack music and '60s-style pop. The beats on their third album, Jinx, range from straight-up hip-hop to caustic industrial, the turntable scratches melding with pounding basslines and squealing guitars.
